IB Meeting
Time: 2020/04/16
Place: Library
Stepping out of the comfort zone - This is what the fourth IB community meeting brought forth. The subject of the discussion centered around one of the core subjects of IBDP - Theory of Knowledge. Tasked to present the topic, Mr. Ladrona began by drawing in everyone’s participation through the aid of the KWL chart. Results of the KWL chart quick analysis indicated that the group’s primary inquiry revolved around how TOK can be linked to other subjects. This matched with the first topic Mr. Ladrona already planned to talk about. Addressing this concern, he put emphasis on learning the difference between a first-order question and a second-order question to show what distinguishes TOK from the other IB subjects. Having a grasp on such a significant TOK feature will likely help subject teachers integrate TOK into their respective subjects. With this idea in mind, he made use of collaborative activities to facilitate active learning of the matter at hand. The said meeting also touched on what makes a good knowledge question and what the practical applications of TOK can be in everyone’s life beyond the IB world.
