IB Meeting
Time: 2020/06/18
Place: Library
As the semester drew closer to its end, the school’s IB community wrapped up its series of meetings last June 18, 2020. The subject of the talk revolved around Creativity, Activity, and Services (CAS), which was presented by Ms. Vivian and Ms. Sarah. The discussion began with Ms. Vivian explaining what CAS is and how it fits into the IB Diploma Program. She also enumerated some activities relevant to IB subject areas that teachers could make use of and apply to their respective subjects. She then went on to describe the nature of the course, its aims, its relevance to the IB learner profile and ATL, its learning outcomes, and its stages. To help the participants have a full grasp of the interconnection of the learning outcomes to the IB learner profile and ATL, Ms. Vivian employed a couple of activities that required all participants, working in groups, to: 1) identify the IB profile and ATL that best fit the learning outcome outlined; and 2) determine the learning outcome that an activity attempts to achieve. She further touched on the CAS guidelines, portfolios, and reflection. Ms. Sarah, on the other hand, discussed the roles and responsibilities of CAS supervisors, coordinators, and how IB teachers can collaborate efficiently and effectively towards a common goal, i.e., innovative and world-class education.
